From Family Rhythms to Niche
Percussion found Diego Camacho at home before it found him on the road. Born in Cali, Colombia, he grew up around uncles who played percussion at family gatherings, and that sound pulled him toward formal study while he was still in school. Local orchestras came next, then professional work with bands in Colombia and abroad after high school. By 2015, Camacho was listed on timbal in Grupo Niche, placing him inside one of Colombian salsa's most visible working bands. His role with Grupo Niche continued beyond that anniversary-era lineup. He later maintained a Miami recording studio while working as a percussionist and music director in the city's Latin music scene.
